New French Door Samsung refrigerators include several interesting models. Designed to directly address every need of the modern consumer, these refrigerators are extremely energy efficient, bring best-in-class design and include advanced technology and innovative features. All refrigerators come with Twin Cooling System to independently cool the refrigerator and the freezer, maintaining the proper humidity levels in each compartment while preventing odor transfers between storage areas.

The Samsung RFG298 and RF268 French Door refrigerators feature the industry first dual ice maker, with an external filtered water and ice dispenser located in the refrigerator, and an additional ice maker located in the freezer. The result is an increased ice making capacity of one and a half times over a single ice maker. And the dual, independently operated ice makers do not take away from the interior capacity of the refrigerators and can be turned on and off. The 28.5 ft³ RFG298 boasts the largest storage capacity in a French Door refrigerator with a standard footprint, offering an additional 3 ft³. Samsung created more usable space through an advanced process that reduces the size of the interior insulation. The RF268 also offers a very respectable 26 ft³ of storage capacity, saving consumers trips to the grocery store. The RFG298 is available stainless finish for $3,000, platinum for $2,900 and black or white for $2,700. The RF268 is coming in June in stainless for $2,500, platinum for $2,400 and black or white for $2,200.

Another two French Door Samsung refrigerators, the new counter-depth RFG238 and RFG237 are designed to create an integrated look in any kitchen. Each counter-depth refrigerator fits flush with cabinets to create more workable space in the kitchen while still providing 23 ft³ of interior room, which is 2 ft³ more than typical counter depth models. The RFG238 French Door also has Samsung innovative dual ice maker, providing an added convenience for entertaining at home. The RFG237 French Door features an external filtered water and ice dispenser. The RFG237 also features internal LED lighting, which is brighter and more energy-efficient than traditional lighting. The stainless steel RFG237 sells for $2,900. The RFG238 comes to stores near you in stainless for $3,000 in Fall 2009.

The new version of 29 ft³ French Door Samsung refrigerator, the RFG299 features a built-in 7″ LCD touch screen, allowing you to access a calendar, check your schedule, get nutrition facts, look at photos and even check unit conversions for those cooking emergencies. Samsung also incorporated Power Freeze and Power Cool functions for fast chill or fast freeze of your food in a short period of time whenever you need to. Price is $3,100.

Nikon’s COOLPIX P90 is the company’s latest super-zoom digital camera, sporting 12.1 Megapixel resolution, a tilting 3in screen and a 24x optical range that’s equivalent to 26-624mm. Announced in February 2009, it’s the successor to the COOLPIX P80 and joins the increasingly competitive market for SLR-styled cameras with enormous zoom ranges.

The COOLPIX P90 may be similarly-styled to its predecessor and retains Vibration Reduction, a 1cm Macro mode and the same degree of manual exposure control, but sports upgrades in all the key departments: the sensor resolution has increased from 10.1 to 12.1 Megapixels, the screen enlarged from 2.7 to 3in and fitted to a tilting platform for greater compositional flexibility, and the zoom range increased from 18x (27-486mm) to 24x (26-624mm).

To this, Nikon’s also added Smile and Blink detection, Scene Recognition, Active D-Lighting, time-lapse movies and a high-speed shooting mode which can fire-off up to 45 low resolution frames at an impressive 15fps. It’s a competitive specification and priced at a similar level to key rivals like Canon’s PowerShot SX10 IS. But the question as always is whether it can live up to the promise and deliver the goods in practice. Find out in our review where we’ll detail the new features and directly compare the image quality against key rivals.

The irresistible rise of LCD has caused nothing short of a complete sea-change in the fortunes of Korean giant LG Electronics. Before LCD struck gold, LG was largely perceived in the UK as a second-tier budget brand that simply couldn’t compete with the big-boys like Sony and Panasonic. These days, thanks to its efforts with LCD, LG sells vast quantities of TVs in the UK and has earned a handy reputation for combining innovation and style with some very tidy pricing. So here’s hoping its new 32LX2R continues the trend.

It’s certainly a winner on the style front. Its glossy black and silver colour scheme might not exactly be original, but its combination of sumptuous curves, back-lit logos and reflective panels nonetheless make the set stand proud from the crowd. And more importantly, of course, the design adds a real touch of sophistication to your living room.

Connectivity is impressive for a 32in LCD TV costing just a grand. For starters there are not one but two digital video inputs: one HDMI and one DVI. With multiple HDMI/DVI-requiring devices incoming, such as Sky’s high definition receiver, Toshiba’s HD-DVD player and Sony’s PS3, having more than one digital video input on a TV is becoming increasingly desirable. Both the LG’s digital jacks can be set to take high definition video or PC feeds too, and they’re supported by component video inputs, a pair of SCARTs and all the other more basic video alternatives.

A search for features on the 32LX2R quickly uncovers a disappointment: there’s only a built-in analogue tuner, not a digital one. With this in mind it might have been nice if LG had provided a third SCART socket, since many buyers will have to use one of the two that are provided for attaching some sort of digital receiver. But we guess we won’t harp on about this too much given that the set carries one digital input more than the vast majority of its rivals.
