If you consideration that a LCD monitor is going to burn big hole in your pocket, here’s something that’ll definitely suit your needs and budget for sure. Viewpoint’s latest release, the VA1926w is a Value series member that promises good performance at an affordable price. The fact that it’s a 19-incher makes it even more tempting. Check it out.
The Monitor
Enclosed in a black and silver matte-finish body, the VA1926w houses a 19-inch anti-glare WSXGA LCD panel that supports a maximum decree of 1440×900 pixels. Standing on a robust plastic base, the monitor is 18-inches tall and is just 2.4-inches thick. The base can tilt up to 20 degrees for viewing angle adjustment.
On the monitor, there are 2 buttons placed on either sides of the power button. The VA1926w’s screen has a 5 ms response time and difference ratios of 700:1 (static) and 2000:1 (dynamic). The brightness is 300 cd/m2 and the light source is rated to last for 50,000 hours. The screen has a viewing angle of 160 degrees horizontally and vertically.
Not like most value series (read entry level) monitors from other brands, the VA1926w has both, a DVI and a D-Sub (VGA) port for input.
Package
Apart from the monitor, the following items are built-in in the bundle with the VA1926w LCD monitor: 1 VGA Cable, Power Cord Drivers Disc and Printed Manual
Too bad the monitor doesn’t come with a bundled DVI-D cable. Maybe that’s one measure of observance the cost down. If you ask me, that’s not the smartest way of doing it as this monitor performs visibly better on a DVI-D input.
Performance
We used Display Mate to conduct a variety of tests on this monitor, ranging from Geometric Pattern tests to the Color replica test (and everything in between). The View sonic VA1926w breezed through the screen geometry and distortion, sharpness and ruling, and screen pixel resolution test quite easily.
It brings sharp pictures and great color reproduction without any bleeding or streaking of colors. The brightness and difference levels were pretty good as well. But, as with almost all monitors, the VA1926w too shows a minute amount of disparity with the red and green bands in the Horizontal Color Registration test.
As far as the OSD buttons are worried, they’re easy to use and let you fine tune certain aspects of the display to the best of your liking. Though, I’m sure the Auto Image Adjust feature determination takes care of anything an average user can think of.
We watched a few movies and played a massive amount of games ranging from Counter Strike to Crysis using the VA1926w. Its 5ms response time ensures that there’s no ghosting in games or in movies. Though it isn’t as good as the VX, VP, or VG series from View sonic; it’s huge for the average customer.
The View sonic VA1926w is available for Rs. 9,500 with a 3-year contract. For this price, it’s a really good deal, but if you want amazing that gives a higher resolution and a faster answer time along with a bundled DVI-D cable, spend 1500 bucks more and get yourself the VX1940w.
